The City Council provides a wide range of local authority services including housing, planning, development, environmental, roads and traffic, leisure and community services.  Many of the services including water, drainage, fire and emergency ambulance are provided on a regional basis for the greater Dublin region.  Since January 2014 the Council provides water services under a Service Level Agreement on behalf of Irish Water.  The City Council has a number of area offices as part of its commitment to service delivery and community development. 

Dublin City Council as a Planning Authority is responsible for the orderly development of the city and through it’s Planning, Property, Enterprise and Economic Development Department it provides the policies, plans and procedures to achieve a sustainable living City, in which people can live, work and form communities. 

The City Valuers Office is part of the Planning, Property, Enterprise and Economic Development Department.  It provides a comprehensive valuation and property advice service to all City Council Departments.  Key areas covered include Housing delivery, Urban Regeneration, Vacancy and Dereliction, preparing Development Appraisals and Development Agreements, Acquisitions and Disposals, Leasing and Lettings, Rent Reviews, Compulsory Purchase and many functions in the City Centre area.  Dublin City Council’s City Valuers Office also provides a full valuation service to the Dublin Regional Homeless Executive, Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, Fingal County Council and South Dublin County Council.  There are ever increasing demands on the Council’s ability to deliver the property solutions required to achieve critical objectives for Dublin, at national and local levels.

Reporting to the Senior Valuer, or such designated Officer as may be determined from time to time, the Senior Executive Valuer will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team within the City Valuers’ Office, Planning, Property, Enterprise and Economic Development Department and the Housing Department, providing advice and leadership to the team.  They will manage a team of professional staff and will deliver a programme of valuation work and provide advice to the City Council on all property matters.  

In the current economic climate, managers are charged with service delivery and change management in an environment of limited resource availability, both human and financial. Delivery of efficient services and value for money is crucial.
